Social Impact Spotlight: Summer Culinary Events at Jordan

This summer, Jordan Winery is rolling out a series of culinary events to spotlight charitable organizations whose positive impact reaches far beyond Healdsburg. Hosted during the 10th anniversary of the John Jordan Foundation and the 50th anniversary of Jordan Winery, Social Impact Summer at Jordan brings together guests from four global nonprofit organizations in an intimate dinner party setting. Katie Young, Executive Director of the John Jordan Foundation, will host the evening to spark meaningful conversation about these important social causes.

Each of the four alfresco dinners will commemorate a cause that the John Jordan Foundation has supported in the last decade: From protecting the academic futures of our youth to rescuing animals from inhumane conditions, guests will be able to hear the heartfelt stories about the lives that have been transformed through each charity’s work, all while enjoying a decadent five-course meal served on the Jordan terrace. The dinner menu will showcase the beautiful ingredients from the Jordan chef’s garden and local farms—all paired with multiple vintages of Jordan Chardonnay and Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon, including a taste of the inaugural 1976 vintage.

Social Impact Summer Dinner: Boys & Girls Clubs of America

The Boys and Girls Clubs of America is dedicated to building great futures for our youth. The John Jordan Foundation has supported BGC for the past decade and recently funded a capital campaign to rebuild the Boys & Girls Clubhouse on Piper Street in Healdsburg, so the organization can continue their mission of providing a safe space to help local children reach their full potential.

Social Impact Summer Dinner: Council on Aging

Saturday, July 16, 6:15-9:30 p.m.
Council on Aging finds ways to enhance the quality of life of the local aging community by promoting well-being and independence. Sonoma County is home to 130,000 seniors over the age of sixty, and this population will grow by another twenty percent in the next ten years. Council on aging acts as the first call when seniors need help—whether it is to find activities and resources to stay active and socially engaged; temporary meals while recovering from medical treatment, or a shoulder to turn to when loss brings on depression.

Social Impact Summer Dinner: 10,000 Degrees

Saturday, August 13, 6:15-9:30 p.m.
10,000 Degrees is a California-based nonprofit that provides students from low-income backgrounds a successful path through college and beyond. Their staff work directly with local elementary, middle school, and high school students to build a pathway to college and make informed decisions about their future. The majority of 10,000 Degrees students are often the first in their families to go to college, so personalized support is crucial to help eliminate barriers to higher education.

Social Impact Summer Dinner: Soi Dog Foundation

Saturday, August 27, 6:15-9:30 p.m.
Soi Dog Foundation is a global organization dedicated to improving the welfare of dogs and cats in Asia that the John Jordan Foundation has invested in for the past two years. John Jordan and Jordan Winery employees care deeply about our four-legged friends and will welcome the organization to share how they are combatting the Asian dog meat trade through humane spaying and neutering, rescue, vaccination, sheltering and adoption in honor of International Dog Day in August.

As always, a significant portion of the revenue from Jordan Winery funds the John Jordan Foundation, which works to fight the negative effects of poverty through investments in animal cruelty prevention, education and humanitarian causes.
