This month, it is with great sadness that we announce the retirement of a very special person, Rafael Robledo.
Rafael started working for the Jordan family back in 1973, overseeing the estate properties, supervising crews and planting vineyards. He was Jordan Winery’s first employee. His keen attention to detail, vast knowledge of plants and endless energy played a vital role and became a driving force behind the success of our vineyard team. Rafael had the opportunity to work alongside iconic industry figures, such as André Tchelistcheff from grapevine planting to vineyard husbandry, and Winemaker Rob Davis from his arrival in 1976. During the slower times of the growing season, Rafael moved onto his other passion projects–the Jordan garden and our row of rose bushes. He became known as the “rose whisperer.” His continued hard work and dedication to the Jordan family will never be forgotten.
Please join us in celebrating Rafael’s 42-plus years of commitment to Jordan wines and wishing him a relaxing, well-deserved retirement. We’re glad that his daughter and grandson will continue to carry the Robledo family tradition at Jordan for years to come.
